A DAY AWAYO'er breakfast we did talkies,
Decided to get away,
And go to the rockies,
So we did, oy veh.
And as usual they come,
In different sizes, colors and shapes,
And some,
Seem to show toothless gapes. And some like a playful child,
Did arrange them in a childish whim,.
Into something wild,
With meaning dim.Soon we reached our goal,
Up high wide and handsome the park,
Makes us whole,
And ready for a lark.Trail Ridge Road our intent,
Over the divide,
Instead we went,
To Moraine Park.
Where elk were in rut,
Bugles blowing,
Occasional head butt,
Stag in all his majesty guarding his herd.We lingered too long to make the trip on Trail Ridge Road, but did come back a different route and on the way we took our picture at an overlook.
Tallest peak over her left shoulder is the back side of Long's Peak (other side which can be seen from I-25)
And the innin' gridiot himself, on the edge and not pushed over.I know, the light's not right, did the best we could,
Saves from culture shock,
Of viewing the aged, that's good,
Neither of us a jock !In my computer I can zoom in on the stag and his wonderful spread of antlers.I will e-mail the picture full size to whoever sends me their e-mail addy.

Doug still having trouble, but did his physical therapy exercises and then spent the rest of his day with his foot elevated above his heart. Says it helps keep the swelling down. Also said that the medics offered no help or senisble advice. We pray while wishing there was more that we could do to help.

saying a little prayer that G'pa Doug would have more comfort and that God would cover him with his love and that God would care for him
Great pictures, great words....I hope you feel better soon!
Now I really chuckled with I read that first paragraph, especially!
I have been to Estes Park several times, and I love it! Trail Ridge Road is gorgeous, but I have a horrible fear of heights, and that place, particularly, scares me to death! I also have a fear of falling off the mountains, when I am on foot. It almost made me physically ill when my kids were little and we went there, because I was frightened of them getting hurt, as well. But the rest of them love the mountains, so we went there often back then!
That is so frustrating at being unable to help Doug, and seeing people who are supposed to be able to do so, not helping. As always, he remains in my prayers.

Thanks for the tour. You are so blessed to be close enough to go to the mountain!!! Calms the soul I'm sure.
I certainly hope that your son will think of getting an opinion from another group of doctors or something that can get him up and going. I hope the ones that are working with him are doing a better job than it sounds like they are from your posts.
I enjoyed the picture tour very much--never saw that part of the country. Prayers for your speedy recovery !
I think I misunderstood--it's your son who is ill instead of you. Well prayers for both of you-that way I have it covered !
Love these pictures, especially the two of your wife and self. You look like you're having a great time; maybe not so much your wife?
The pics are a trip down memory lane for me. I have snapshots of Estes Park in the 70's and one of Long's peak dated 1966. Both memorable trips with a drive down the Million dollar highway. Thanks for the post and praying that you are feeling better soon. God Bless.
Awesome photos. Long ago I visited the Rockies. Thanks for the memories.
The rocks look like a good time.....glad you enjoyed!!!
Oh wonderful photos Doug. Hope you had as wonderful a day as it looks like. Love to you and Mrs. Doug. Judi
Hoping your Doug gets to feeling better soon. Swelling is painful and rest and meds should do it some good I hope.
Your trip had to be a nice getaway for a little change of pace. No mountains here but enough close by to look at. I think we will see a lot of dead trees this next year at least in the young ones. The drought did them in quite well.
Beautiful mountains , beautiful people that I recognized !
I wish for your son a faster recovery especially for his knee .
In friendship
Michel
