  • HOW SWEET IT WAS

Far away and many years ago,
    By the Gulf we resided,
At times to the big lake we'd go,
Other times to the causeway we decided.

But there was water and fun,
With a choice of water fresh or salt,
A day of sweet air and sun,
    And no one to halt,
A picnic of things we liked, one by one,
    No one to fault us.

As the sun faltered and begtan to drop,
    Clouds above, some like creatures,
    Others resembling a ship,
We laid back and enjoyed the features,
Of what nature gave us  --  a bit of lagniappe !
    -------------------------------------------------------
Of all natures creatures there we knew,   the two legged
natives became loved ones to us.
