  • FOR  NOW

    A few short days,
    Breaking bread and such,
    Then we each go  ourways,
    Buoyed in spirit, oh much.

      Visiting with relatives and friends,
    Reliving old days,
Good things come to good ends,
    And so we part.

Good bye, Godspeed,  friend and brother,
    Take care,
     For we have no other.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heather,  their cousin Gwen and Don, yesterday.

Don got sick 4th of July which turned out to be a Strep infection in his lower brain.
Perhaps caused by a fall he had that  became infected and passed in
his blood to his brain.   He underwent surgery and heavy doses
of antibiotics after  surgery was complete.     His driver's license was
taken from him after surgery.    He just got that back three days ago
after undergoing all kinds of physical  and mental therapy for months.    He had to
learn to walk and talk and such things.    He has done remarkably well, considering.
Feeling hale and hearty he drove over to see us and family from his home in Duschene, Utah.
We had a super visit,   he called this evening and let us know he is spending
the night with friends in Green River, Wyoming and then going
on to his home.      He spent several months with his daughter and
family over in Utah before he began moving around on his own.
The rascal is in better shape than I am.

  • I'm glad he has done well.

  • He is similar to Nanny's dad in that he overcomes these physical disabilities! Good for him and for his wife, you and Heather! Sometimes we oldies fool the medical profession! LOL

  • Lovely poem and photo! I'm glad to see your good friend is now doing so well after his surgery.

  • How wonderful he has progressed so!

Hey xanga has decided I can have my email subscriptions again. So you may see me more often now.

  • Well, they can't keep a good guy down--either one of you! Glad your BIL is doing so much better, and I especially love that he's getting out and about! That sort of makes him an inspiration to all of us!
Does he take great pictures, like you do?
I wonder if you're getting a lot of rain/snow today. It's a little early for all this, but maybe we'll think of something interesting to do that'll take all winter, and we won't even notice it. Have you ever thought of getting all your poems and writings together in a book? It would be a good one!
    Happy days!
    Joy

  • He's truly an example of strength and perseverance for us all.

  • Don is certainly looking well for having gone through all that.  Please give him my love.
