  • ON THE SLANT

    Back then 'twas the fad,
To put up businesses whatever the shape of the lot,
    Triangular was not so bad,
As long as the location was deemed  hot.

It makes me wonder a bit,
    About the merchant,
And how  his business would fit,
In the very narrow end of it.

  • I really like and admire the old way of constructing businesses on unusual shaped pieces of land! Lovely poem.

  • I've always found that so very fascinating.  Cleveland(the older) cities have those.  I'm not sure Orlando does.  Orlando is just an overgrown cow town...nothing much before Disney came along.  I really don't think Orlando even measures up to be a true metropolis.  If it wern't for an abundance of sunshine down here and a lack of it in the Great Lakes area, I would have stayed in OH.  No family there anymore.

    Love,

  • In the building business not any square meter is lost . Finally this building looks rather good in spite of its narrowness at the end  .  Clever poem , Doug .

  • Small spaces with glass make great spots for small businesses or just a small business display. Maybe it would do well for antiques of some kind.

  • Nicely done.  And ryc: thanks for stopping by.
