THE HOCKS FAMILY
By name the only one I knew,
Was Holly,
She lived in many places too,
What a looker by golly !By the fence in most backyards,
In profusion they stood,
Sweet pretty backyard guards,
Allowing nothing in but good. The girls the artists they were,
Made dolls of those flowers,
Had everything but fur,
And superpowers.
Don't see them around much today,
I miss them, they stood so tall,
Dignified,
Oh, I say !

I have Hollyhocks the big tall ones like that all around my yard. An older lady gave them to me now they just reseed everywhere sometimes get too many and have to pull them out. A lady told me a good story about them. She said that back in the days when a lady did not ask where the outhouse was they always planted hollyhocks next to it so the ladies could see it from afar. Love to you, Judi
Fun...we're going to have to plant some hollyhocks in the corners of a new garden I hope to put in someday -- at the end of the house, enclosed with a picket fence of some sort. Tall plants like these would be good in the corners...
We were just on line this morning looking up the Hollyhock Hill Restaurant in Indianapolis...to get my stepmother a gift certificate for her birthday!
I knew Holly well a few years ago.
I love those things and they just don't grow well down here, I don't know why. Those are so pretty!
I like too the Hollyhocks . They show various colors and abond in my garden that they tend to invade !!
In friendship
Michel
Makes me long for an outhouse just to grow the hollyhocks outside of it
As it is, my hollyhocks didn't come up this year. Hopefully, next year they'll do better.
