  • LA EAST ?

    In 1990 back when,
    I was not  yet retired,
    A third shifter then,
Other work bound folk, were wired.

    Me ?  I was tired,
On the way home  I would start over a  hill,
And see Denver where smog conspired,
And where my home was still.

Today we went to Red Rocks,
And the glorious view to the south,
    That once was,
    Today was a foggy-smoggy drought,
    More hard knocks,
    Fear the EPA

  • I remember “that cloud” over Denver from my first visit. Seemed less so last time I was there, but, then that was just five hours waiting in the airport.

  • I’ve heard so much about the Denver smog.  It seems (from my last trip) that the smog in LA is better than when I was a kid, when you could stand at the foot of the San Gabriel Moutains and not see them.

  • you are quite the wordsmith!  i am greatly enjoying reading your poetry and i have linked to you.

  • Have you seen John Tesh’s video “Worship at Redrock”? It’s “sooooooooooooo” beautiful there. I plan on going there some day! Just gorgeous!

  • That is the way I feel about the Phoenix area.  Maybe 15 yrs ago there was an article in the paper out there about Drs. and parents wondering why there was such an increase in childhood asthma there, giving various ideas as to why.  The main theory was the fact that everybody wanted green plants and grass, like they had wherever they used to live.  Me?  I read that and laughed.  I said to my mom—”All they have to do is go out and stand on top of any of the many mountains surrounding the valley and look at the brown cloud over the whole city, and they would have their answer”!!  Years before that, the paper had an article about the saguaro cacti in southern AZ.  Wondering why many more  were dying than usual, compared to years before, especially along the highways.  DUH!!

  • and did you see snow?

  • I did not realize that was a problem in Denver. How sad! And reading Mimiwi’s comments made me even sadder. Why can’t we take care of our beautiful earth, our heritage and responsibility?

  • A foggy smogy drought ! All things not good for the earth and its inabitants .

Answer about the coffe pot : Yes below the pot there is place only for a weak source of heat such a candle . Impossible to boil the water with that . So I think poeople must pour the boiling water in the larger pot and the candel or other kept up  the temperature; In friendship

ps : you speak of Denver . This is also your name ?

  • I was in Denver about thirty five years ago and i remember how beautiful it was with air that was like some kind of diamond about to happen..just crystal clear…I hate to think of smog in a place that I remember especially for its sky.dang it all!

  • Yep, fog smog draught and heat.  If it can be fixed I would love to stick around for it.  When I was a child, the sky was always blue with clouds for the rain.  We didn’t have smog clouds then.

  • I looked at several of your entries. Really enjoyed the words so wonderfully put.   The cloud pictures were inspiring to be sure.  Your lovely wife and picture of you were very nice to look at. As is the beautiful pictures of the grandchildren.  so many Birthday parties.  It was nice to see your daughter’s 59th birthday. She looked happy.  My daughter will have a party for her husband Saturday.  Thanks for sharing all.

  • Sorry to hear about the fog. My mother-in-law took Mitch, Eden, and I to Red Rocks one afternoon several years ago. It IS a beautiful place. I would just love to see a nice concert there (Dave Matthews, maybe?)!
