  • BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

A family as big as ours,
It seems birthdays come in a row,
    Or sometimes in fours,
However it happens ’tis a joy you know.

    Friday we left town early,
    Somewhat awake,
    Coffeed and not surly,
    With presents to take.

    Daughter for her 59th birthday,
    And the day was spent,
    In love and play,
MacDonalds and the park we went.

Then to a show, The Simpsons,
    And thence to her dwelling,
    Mother and daughter spent some,
Time putting her stuff away and  me spelling,
A man in that environment is a bum,
    Sat and visited, just jelling.

‘Twas dark when we got home,
    Tired, yet happy,
Dulled like an old knife some,
I fell in bed for a long, long nappy.

    TODAY

    Slept in awhile,
    Got ready to go,
To another birthday party in style,
One for a great grandson’s you know,

He hit his fourth ‘ere it hit him,
Picked a picture for his face,
    Long, weird and slim,
    Thus began the race.

    Great grandson Ian,
    Went for a simpler design,
    One that’d fit with skiin’
My face already too many a line,
We left after a grand supper.

    And tomorrow we shall go,
    To another birthday show.
