RAMBLIN'
A sunny walk,
With a companion dear,
Good talk,
We each like to hear.
At peace with the world,
And each other,
Memories unfurled,
Of a dear Mother.
Not scramblin'
Our feet decide the pace,
Just ramblin'
In good grace.
TASTE, SMELL PREVIEW
When I was young,
My sense of smell sharp,
As was my sense of tongue,
This age does warp.
The kitchen my haven,
From the world's hells,
Tastes of heaven,
Paradise of smells.
Mom worked wonders of sweet cuisine,
Penuche, Divinity and Fudge,
Were prominent on the scene,
From my place I would not budge.
Just baited,
To lick a spoon,
Waited,
To lick the pot soon.
Today we started our Christmas baking,
Tomorrow there is more,
And candy we'll be making,
Before,
Our culinary arts forsaking.
WHEN YOU THINK
You have it so bad,
Don't have to look far at all,
To see those who have had,
A much steeper, harmful fall.
An area much larger than California, tonight,
In the clutches of cold and ice,
Trees crashing down, a sight,
Folks without power and heat, in a vise.
From what I heard tonight,
It shall continue a while,
What a fright,
Can't cure with a dial.
May the sun shine warm there tomorrow,
I'll give up some heat,
Hoping for their less sorrow.
We're okay in our seat.
AWFUL SNOWFALL
Friday into Saturday segues,
Dawn shows lightly falling snow,
So it comes in sort of edgeways,
But, its December you know.
Lagging behind,
Things to do galore,
Losing our mind,
There is more,
To do before we find,
Time to go out,
What a bore.
Finally the last is done,
We fire up the beast,
Through increasing snow and no sun,
We slurge into the artery carefully at least.
It gets later of course,
Snow gets a bit heavier,
Piling up messy, and fluffy as well,
Slows things up as snow comes down.
Before we got away, deeper doo-doo,
Was the nicey icey,
Traffic at a crawl,
We had a a time - dicey.
-----------------------------------------------
Last stop, going to the car, my feet slipped, almost fell,
Shoulder went kaflooey, just getting things going again
at 2:43 AM Monday.
IN BETWEEN
Nature in the raw and cold,
Clouds low today you know,
Yet we were bold,
And proceeded to go.
Out in the cold,
To COSTCO,
Needing to make the run since the first,
Snow forcast tonight,
Think our choice was not the worst,
Did the thing right.
Did the groceries unload,
Got comfy and warm,
Every thing stowed,
Looked across the street,
And lo, it snowed.
Lucked out again, did we.
ENTOMOLOGY
The upper bug section,
Here out our way,
Has fascination,
A way to spend the day.
Oh, the things to see,
Things to finger,
Haggling for me,
Makes us linger.
Mile Hi Flea Market,
Short tour,
First find the restrooms and attached snack bar.
Then one place of shoes and clothes,
Finally a rug bought,
Hasseled and haggled,
But it she got !
A way,
Easy for me,
To spend the day,
I take my walker you see.
SOMEWHAT THERE
Today a bit better,
Full nights sleep behind me,
Not right to the letter,
Buzzing in my head not a bee.
Got it straight now,
Vicodin the med,
That kills my pain,
And messes with my head..
Family is so good to us,
The granddaughter who was going to put our tree up,
Got sick and put the finger on her brother, no fuss,
He showed up, with mate and three kids, hup, hup, hup.
Grandmother in supervisory spot,
And family doing their thing,
And me ? In a lot,
Of stuff, like sky snakes on the wing.
---------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday night and to bed,
I head.
ROLL CALL
Here, in mind,
And lagging body,
This entry should find,
It's place for Tuesday.
Heck of a thing,
That Vioxx talks a convincing,
Need to let Morpheus sing,
His painless lullaby.
My alarm clock today ?
Pain,
But a nights rest I say,
I did gain.
So now for breakfast,
And of course vioxx,
Hope that'll last,
Hours by the clock.
--------------------------------------------
First real rest I've had for quite some. Heck of a way to start the Holidailies, Huh
