  • TASTE, SMELL PREVIEW

    When I was young,
    My sense of smell sharp,
As was my sense of tongue,
    This age does warp.

    The kitchen my haven,
    From the world’s hells,
    Tastes of heaven,
    Paradise of smells.

Mom worked wonders of sweet cuisine,
    Penuche, Divinity and Fudge,
     Were prominent on the scene,
From my place I would  not budge.

    Just baited,
    To lick a spoon,
    Waited,
    To lick the pot soon.

Today we started our Christmas baking,
    Tomorrow there is more,
    And candy we’ll be making,
    Before,
    Our culinary arts forsaking.

  • yummy in your tummy

  • Oh my my,

I would love to just stop by

    And give them a try.

  • OH my gosh! Those look delicious!!! I love divinity candy the most!! As a kid we made candies and cookies and took them to all of our neighbors. I loved making, baking, decorating, and delivering. So much fun! I still do that. Not every year, but about every other year.

What a sweet, fun, tasty poem! Now I’m hungry!

Can I stop by and be a taste tester?!!?!

    Hugs,

  • YUM!  I have done way too much Christmas baking.  Time to stop now.

    I have to sample everything.

Penuche sounds good.  hmmmm.  Maybe I’ll make some penuche.  I just found a good gingerbread recipe. (so much for not baking anymore)

  • Those look delicious.

  • Dear Doug , we have the same inspiration at this moment but me it rather concerns chocolate and bakery !
The diffenrence is you express your memories and the present time by a great poem !!!  and me , not !

    In friendship

  • Wil’s niece sent pizzales she made one year. They are hell for diabetics. Well so are cookies because who can eat just one?

  • I love to cook and wish I could do more.  I love to eat and wish I could eat more.  I have a friend who bakes Pizelles every year.  They are yummy.  I think we all have our favorite recipes for eating.  I remember pineapple upside down cake that melts in my mouth and moms was the best I ever ate.  Carrot cake, the original recipe I tried was the best I have ever eaten bar none.  I don’t do a lot of cakes anymore but it would be high on my list if I did.  Fresh strawberry pie, possibly my favorite dessert.  Candies, I love sugar coated pecans and chocolate covered salted pretzels.  If I keep typing I am possibly going to gain a few pounds.

    Lovely poem for wonderful foods,
