    The magic phrase,

    “Let’s Pretend,”

Followed by the plan of play,

    Agreement reached, we blend,

    And become engrossed,

    In our play.

    Might entail a ghost,

    A pirate or miser gray,

    Whatever, it is the most,

    Of enchanted play.

LETS PRETEND,  ’tis the battle cry of young imagineers ! ! ! !

  • It’s my battle cry too, Doug.   I suppose I am a not so young imaginer.    ava

  • many adults have been known to pretend
to postpone the day their youth will end
and it works if you’ve got the time to spend
there’s no better way to entertain a friend

  • I know you are a bit older than I, but I remember growing up in the 40′s listening to the radio show “Let’s Pretend” on Saturday mornings.  The radio really made you use your imagination.  Think kids today are missing a lot by having everything so “visual”.  I haven’t played “pretend” in so long, I don’t even know if I could anymore—how sad.

Today, I was so very glad that our lilacs and other flowers weren’t out yet.  Our high winds today would have really done a number on them!!

  • Childhood ?

    Now on number five,

Wore four down to bare wood,

How many more shall I see,

‘Til the box surrounds me ?

  • let’s pretend…that good idea…your imagenation is lovely..

  • I wonder if we don’t find the same thing at both ends of the path?

  • Shakespear in As You Like It – - – The Seven Ages Of Man

  • Geriatric my butt!

I think you are awesome..and I love the fact that you are in here blogging!

So..I await, with baited breath..to hear your biography filled with all the tidbits you choose to share.

    Have a terrific weekend Ridd.

    Hugs*

  • I think its a shame that kids dont pretend much any more–to many electronic games–we used to stay out side from daylight till dark in the summer. But as long as your never to old to pretend-then your ok. I dont know why my picture didnt show–i tryed to reinsert it–no lucky

  • Oh I don’t know … the kids around here seem to play the old games.  True the swords are light sabres these days, but the theory’s the same … :O)

Thanks for your comments, Doug.  I’m glad you like the website.  It was a lot of work, done in a hurry by myself and a friend who’s a professional website designer.  She did it for peanuts for us, and we’ve had nothing but compliments.

I used to visit Tom Cunliffe’s site occasionally, although I never posted (I believe I picked it up from your subscriptions, actually …).  Sadly, I imagine life overtook him for whatever reason.

  • Yes, Let us pretend.  We listened on the radio to The Let’s Prtend program every Saturday.  We ate cream of wheat as that was the product advertised with the program.  Oh what fun.(( ( Think we should listen to the Radio sometimes. ))) We were always Princesses or Movie Stars, …….
