  • BIG WEEKEND

    Work and fun,
    Birthday sked,
    For this old one,
On the 11th errands finally dead,
After   Heather’s treat of bluerberry pancake breakfast for a startl.

    Return to home and mailbox,
    More fun,
    Package from daughter in Oregon,
Books, cards and early bed for this son.

The 12th was early food preparation,
    For afternoon Birthday Open House,
On the dot family showed up as a nation,
Far be it from me to grouse,
    Over this operation.

Wall to wall Moms and Dads,
    Little great grands galore,
    Weather reasonable not bad,
Balls and sticks  and playthings more,
With Dads in turn playing and glad,
    To prevent childish gore.

    Beaucoup pictures,
    I’ll just show two,
    DSCN4791

    Cake of course,
Blue for sky, green for leaves, white for clouds, yellow for spring flowers,
    Ain’t a horse,
But to my taste by the powers !

Most precious treasure of our relations
    The great grands,
By great grandpa, taking their stations.
    —————————————————–
I’m surprised my left hand, arm and wrist held out this long.
They’re hurtin for certain now.   Guess Kelli and Bonnie will
have to keep on as reporters of my doings yet, God Willing.

“My only prayer request is that God would be glorified in this trial. My first inclination as a human being was to pray that I would be healed, but I do not think that this is why God has placed me in this position. I am limited, but Christ is unlimited!” Andrew Haines Dunn (Journal entry on March 16, 2008 AD, http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/andrewdunn)

  • I don’t have to wish you a happy birthday, because from the pictures I certainly can see you had a wonderful one.  I love the picture with the great grands.  How precious!  Bet they had a ball all together, and I bet you enjoyed watching them just as much.  It looks like one little girl in the midst of all those boys!

I am so happy that you took the time to tell us all about this.  Prayers are always with you and Heather.

  • happy happy birthday, God Bless.

  • Happy 62nd anniversary of your 21st birthday Doug! I’ve missed seeing you online!

  • Hooray for all your family making much of your birthday. The little ones seem to be very fond of their g-g-pa. It is so good to see a post from you. I know it is difficult for you to check in off and on but it is greatly appreciated.

COLD here with hard freeze predicted tonight. MO weather sure has changed in the last 3-5 years.

Off to church this morning. Hope that things continue to go well for you and Heather.

  • Happy Birthday, Doug!  It obviously was, as we can see so well.  Wish I’d known, but I’m awful about remembering people’s birthdays and anniversaries.  Only have my children’s days memorized, “cause I was there”, lol.  Here’s wishing you a wonderful warm time in your 88th year.

    Hugs to you and Heather,

    ~ Sil in Corea

  • Glad you had a wonderful birthday–nothing like family and friends to make you smile. Good to see you on line !

  • Aw happy birthday Doug. I was born in 87 but I always feel that I was born so late. I am not like the other 21 year olds. I feel out of place sometimes, but nothing I can do about the year I was born. I hope 87 brings you blissful moments and sunshine every day!

  • Happy birthday friend. Looks wonderful with all those loved ones about.

  • Happy Birthday Dear Doug!!!It is wonderful to see the photos of you and the great grandchildren together. Is that a smile I see on your face?

It is good to see you on here and see you able to update us. May you have many happy days in your future. Hugs, my friend.

  • Happy Happy Birthday Doug. How you feeling now. I have missed you a lot, Judi

  • So glad your arm hung in for you. Hope by my late arrival here that the pain is lessened. I do plan on calling later today or maybe tomorrow. Cat to run to ACS and maybe I’ll catch the pool when I get back. Then again maybe not.

  • How did I miss this auspicious occasion?   Days are flying by so fast I can’t keep up.    I hope you ate enough cake for all of us that couldn’t be there.

    Much love, Ava

  • Just me, again. It’s late and I can’t sleep…so I’m praying. You are one of the people I am praying for, Sweet Daddy Doug!
