Month: October 2007

  • THERE’S NEWS

    This October e’en,
    Across our land,
    Young  folks can be seen,
    Carrying on tradition grand.

    The news ?
    It’s time for boos,
    Rather than booze !

    DSCN1598

         And there were more,
    Didn’t count,
    Maybe a score,
    Some were frightful,
    None were a bore,
    All nicely sightful.

  • BOON COMPANION

    Across the street from me,
    Is a tree,
In the fall ’tis easy to see,
    Somewhat alike we be.

    DSCN1554

    Somewhat drunk the trunk,
    Skinny gnarly limbs bare,
Almost bare on top, I thunk,
But still the glee  is there !
    ————————————–
I watched this tree come green in the Spring
And its glorious canopy of green,
Till in the Fall the leaves shimmered in gold,
    Till they began to fall,
    Much is to be seen,
    ‘Twixt the two of us,

    DSCN8516

    Perhaps ?

  • WHAT’S WRONG WITH PICTURE ?

    Looks like an agreeable chap,
    Something not quite right though,
    Something missing, big flap,
After, did it right,  had a go.

    DSCN8516

    Not too obvious,
Perhaps noticed only by the snobious,
    —————————————————————–
Got clothes on,  suspenders,  watch, hearing aid in sight.
    Had my oxygen with me,
Just blown my nose and while my head was light,
    I had to see,
    The fun in sight.
    —————————————————————-?
My cannula (oxygen tube)  in sight
at my throat, but  it was tucked
under my chin ere being returned
    where it belonged.

This old man is a dingbat !

  • THOSE LAST DAYS

    Of warmth and greenth,
    Soon to change,
    With coolth,
    And the appearance of mange.

    We enjoyed doing errands today,
    As our track,
Went by two parks, on the way,
    Over and back,
    Same route.

    DSCN1495

Trees changing, it is plain to see,
But the grass is still green,

    DSCN1496

    During the work day,
    Humans scarce enough,
    Bet they’d have their way,
    And do picnic stuff.

    DSCN1497

Two parks, two lakes in a string,
    Along I-70 interstate,
    Always a treat for me,
    Scenery so great.

Then on the way home, we face a choice,

    DSCN1514

    Wadsworth Blvd and home ?
Or on to the Western Slope ?
It would be so fun to roam,
But trying to not be a dope,
    I again opted for home.

  •

    COSTUME

    It has for a while,
    Puzzled me,
    Of what style,
    Character to be.

    On that weirdie,
    Eeriedie.
    Spooky spree,
    Oh me.

    Ha,  I guess maybe,
    I’ll go as a pipe,
Round and long – baby !
    Empty inside, candy I’ll swipe.

    This tubular fool,
    Will be a Holloweenie

  • NATURE VS.  MAN

In woudrous ways doth nature work,
    Fitting itself to climate,
    Here in dry land,
    Cacti is great.

    DSCN1402

And I saw a bit of snow,
    Hiding way back in,
On such a warm and sunny day it did glow,
Saying water is not a sin.

    DSCN1374

    Man does his thing,
To make things seem what they ain’t,
    But his things don’t sing,
    He leaves a straight taint.

    DSCN1304

Those rafters seem to bend the eye,
The roof only slants one way,
    Architect is quite a guy,
    And had his say.
    —————————————————-
Outside of the building extensive work was done, recently.
    Things look different for sure.

  • PUZZLES

    There are mysteries,
    Oh so many,
    In the intracacies,
    Of plants in arid land.

    But how intracately arid,
    It is when,
A feature of a site is hid,
    When “maintenance is going,”  then . . . . . .

  • YESTERDAY AND TOMORROW

    DSCN1139

    Winter sends an omen,
    Of rattling icy bones,
    A mere gnomon,
    Of coming more severe tones.

    But today,   an impessionist scene,
    Ere the leaves all fall,
Brings joy to my heart,  I mean,
    I had a ball.

    DSCN1186

    The glorious sun,
Doth play in the trees leaves,
‘Til I am to a turn done,
    Glory this man perceives.

    DSCN3936

    Then after a time,
A few months more of Boreas country,
    And Spring’s wonderful clime,
    Bursts into colorful rhyme.

    DSCN5831

    For the nonce,
    I sit, ponder and dream,
    Of how I was once,
And hope to some day enjoy the cream,
    Of again,  ”growing up”

  • Do you think middle schoolers should have free access to birth control?

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

No I don’t even think they should have access even if the school nurse or principal approves it.

  • WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES

As it says in the old, old song,
    Yesterday amid fall cleanup actions,
    Heather did roses pick,
While I did the storage fractions.

    DSCN1149 DSCN1150

    Apparently last of the season,
A cold front without  a hot back,
    The main reason,
And with it the white flack.

    DSCN1140

This afternoon the sun is battling to emerge,
    With little luck,
A bit of light doth surge,
Would that I could this weather duck.
    —————————————————
As days of the winter pass,   some will be shirtsleeve days,
And others a bit more grim.
Overall mild the winter be as usual, here
    In our Eden.
