Do you think middle schoolers should have free access to birth control?
I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!
No I don’t even think they should have access even if the school nurse or principal approves it.

At what age do you think people should have access to birth control?….if any…
Um…no.
(This is actually happening in Seattle. sheesh!)
In France when the parents refuse the youngsters can go freely to an organism called ” familial planning ” that teaches them and also gave them the ” tools ” to avoid they get children after sex !! But in spite of that young adolescents become pregnant !!! Society has much changed , more in 50 years than in a few centuries . The notion of responsability is less strong .

The US, with the most restrictive rules, has the developed world’s highest rate of young teenage pregnancy. So, yes, without a doubt. I’m generally in favour of things that keep children safe.
13 and 14 years olds have sex – always have, always will. It’s not what we want, but it is reality.
Good grief. What kind of message are we sending to our kids? How old are middle schoolers anyway? 11 or 12? I am too upset to answer with any clarity.

I had a friend once who got pregnant at 11 years old. She was in jail by 16. If parents were paying enough attention to prevent this sort of thing from happening, I would say that the schools have no business thinking about the sex lives of children… but the parents aren’t taking care of their responsibilities in that area so I’m not sure what’s right. Someone has to step in to keep these kids from having babies! I would prefer that the parents do it…. but they don’t.
Thanks for subscribing
personally, i think it should be left up to the parents to decide,,
that’s just my two cents,,, and that’s probably more then what it’s worth.
thanks for stopping in Doug,, it’s always a pleasure to see you’ve been by.

This is the website for the photo viewer editor. It’s freeware. I discovered the batch resizing and renaming by accident.
There are plugins you can download, but I haven’t had a chance to play with them yet. I’m not really a photo editing type of person. I just like to take lots, grab a couple and pop them online, but I think this software may have a lot of potential.

I’m a nurse and a parent. Believe me, kids in middle school are having sex. I’m in favor of whatever keeps them safe and NOT pregnant, including sex ed and condoms. It’s easy to say it’s the parent’s responsibility, but I can assure you, most parents cannot account for their children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. More troubling still, is that girls younger than middle school seem to think oral sex is not sex and giving it out is a popularity contest. This subject makes me feel very old.
i don’t think that they should have birth control.. it encourages them to have sex more
I don’t think so either.
I think Michel has a very good point there – - –
And Wissh brings more to light . . . . . .
I do think I would have been horrified if my parents told me it was okay to buy prophylactics, the same for school approval. We always got big guys to by them for us, much like we did for wine and such.
Here we have schools that won’t let a kid take an aspirin without going to the nurse and having permission from parents. And now someone has decided to do birth control without parents permision or knowledge. Crazy!
But I have a better idea, why not do vasectomy’s on the guys! When do they get taught about responsibility? And what is one going to do with the STD diseases that birth control doesn’t stop?
It’s unfair to blame the parents. Sometimes they do their very best and can absolutely do no more! Parents have a difficult task at any period in history. More so today.
