YESTERDAY AND TOMORROWWinter sends an omen,
Of rattling icy bones,
A mere gnomon,
Of coming more severe tones. But today, an impessionist scene,
Ere the leaves all fall,
Brings joy to my heart, I mean,
I had a ball.The glorious sun,
Doth play in the trees leaves,
‘Til I am to a turn done,
Glory this man perceives. Then after a time,
A few months more of Boreas country,
And Spring’s wonderful clime,
Bursts into colorful rhyme. For the nonce,
I sit, ponder and dream,
Of how I was once,
And hope to some day enjoy the cream,
Of again, ”growing up”

What a stunning contrast of pictures!!!
I see we share the same blue eyes, except yours are the thoughtful eyes of the poet, mine of the mad hatter story writer :)
This is a great entry – I would suggest you enter it as a contribution to the Featrued GrownUp’s Xanga for it fits well into their theme of Tales from the Autumns of our lives
Good job Doug.
What beautiful pictures…All of them. Are those gold trees, Aspen? I wanted to stay in CO at least one of the years just to see the Aspens in the Autumn.
Lovely photos but to me it is your poetry that is outstanding. I think you have to be our age to understand its fullness.
you have a beautiful way with words. and i love the pictures especially the one with the white flowers. reminds me of a tree down the street it blooms only a few weeks in spring but it is beautiufl.
This poem is moody and makes me a bit sad.
